Study Design and Patient Disposition. The Premier Hospital Database from 2008 to 2013 was queried for eligible patients who underwent selected gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures with procedural sedation. Eligible inpatients and outpatients were grouped into four groups: (1) SpO2 only, (2) capnography only, (3) both SpO2 and capnography, and (4) neither SpO2 nor capnography. Eligible patients were matched 1:1 using propensity score matching techniques to generate the final analysis groups of (1) SpO2 only and (2) capnography (± SpO2).
