(A) Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) total protein levels (microgram/ml) were augmented by high-pressure ventilation but diminished by both hypercapnic groups. (B, C) The total and neutrophil cell count in the lavage group increased following HPV but were attenuated in the hypercapnic groups.
