  1. Variables presented as mean SD or number of patients n (%). The total consumption of sufentanil were significantly lower in group D1 and D2 than group C at 1, 2, 4 and 8 h after surgery. Patients that needed additional self-administered sufentanil within 48 h after surgery in group D1 and group D2 were significantly lower than in group C. (* meant P < 0.05 compared with Group C, **meant P < 0.01 compared with Group C)
  2. No patients required rescue analgesia in all the three groups 48 h after surgery
