Illustration of impedance analysis by Fourier transformation. Pressure and flow from the aorta are converted into a series of sine waves using Fourier transformation. For each harmonic the corresponding waves of pressure and flow are related to calculate an amplitude and phase angle of each harmonic of the impedance. Only the first five harmonics are included in the figure for illustative purposes
