Arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure (PaCO 2 ) during different oscillatory frequencies with the arteriovenous extracorporeal lung assist device (ECLA) opened and closed. After recruitment and switching ventilation to HFOV the PaCO2 was significantly lower compared with lung injury (TARDS) (§p < 0.05). The PaCO2 were significantly reduced from 6 to 15 Hz with the ECLA opened (* p < 0.05).
